What decides the value

Three things: which machine or part it is, what is inside it, and how it has been treated. The condition grade below is applied to the current buyback value for that model — the same figures we use at the counter, published so you can read them before you come in.

A cracked screen, a tired battery or a board that has been repaired before all move the grade. So does a missing charger, though less than most people expect.

We test the device whether or not you sell it, and there is no fee if you take it home again.

The inspection happens at the counter, not in a back room. Every item that moves the figure is read out.

Paid when you accept

Cash or bank transfer the same day, or taken straight off the price of something you are buying.

Is the online estimate the final price?

No. It is worked out from the details you give us, so it is only as accurate as those details. The final offer is agreed after we have tested the device in person, and you are free to decline it.

What affects what you pay?

Which model or part it is, what is inside it, and its tested condition — screen, battery health, keyboard, ports, storage health and whether the board has been repaired before. Accessories and the original box help a little.

My model is not in your list. Can you still buy it?

Yes. Choose "describe it instead" in the form above and tell us what you have. A technician reads it and comes back with a figure — we buy far more than we keep published values for.

Can I send photographs instead of bringing it in first?

You can attach photographs to the form, and they help us give you a tighter figure before you travel. We still have to test the device in person before the offer is final.

How do you pay?

Cash at the counter or a bank transfer the same day, once you have accepted the offer. You can also put the value straight towards something you are buying from us.

What happens to the data on my device?

Storage is wiped as part of taking the device into stock. If you want to remove your own data first, do it before you come in — once we have tested the machine we cannot return files from it.
